Reddington takes his role as a family member very seriously, acting as a gentle guardian to the young children in his home. Having grown up with a large Boerboel as his best friend, he is very well-mannered around other dogs, though his terrier instincts remain sharp regarding cats. He is an alert boy who will let you know when the neighbors arrive, but he is also content to stay home alone during the day, keeping himself busy with his favorite chew toys.

The most remarkable thing about Reddington is his ability to communicate. He is a truly intelligent “thinker” who has taught himself to navigate a home perfectly. During the day, he has learned how to use his paws to open doors to let himself into the garden or back into the house. He is fully potty trained and even has a “night-time signal”—if he needs to go out, he will gently place a paw on the bed to wake you up. He usually holds it until morning, but he values having a way to tell you what he needs.

As a devoted companion, Reddington is very alert and protective of his family. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, but we’ve found that a simple treat is the “magic key” to earning his trust. When it’s time for a walk, he gets very excited and can be vocal when he sees other dogs because he wants to lead the way. He settles down once the walk gets into a steady rhythm, though he would love an owner who can continue his lead training.
