Golden Retriever Cross Bailey’s Profile

Golden Retriever cross Bailey is a social, sweet, and wonderfully feisty six-year-old female who loves being an inside dog. She is an incredibly loving companion who demands plenty of attention and wants nothing more than to lay on the couch and cuddle closely with her humans. While she is deeply affectionate and happy to be around her people, she also has a charming independent streak—sometimes living on “her own planet”—and is perfectly content keeping to herself when needed.

Around the home, she is beautifully well-mannered, fully toilet trained, and will politely scratch at the door when she needs to go outside. She is not a big barker and is perfectly happy to be left home alone during the day, where she will happily lay out in the warm sun or patiently wait at the front gate for her family to safely return. She enjoys having a good, safe bone to chew on to keep herself occupied. It is important to note that she has a dietary allergy, so she requires a strict chicken-free diet to keep her healthy and comfortable.

Despite her sweet nature, this intelligent Golden Retriever cross female Bailey possesses a remarkably strong herding instinct that makes her unsuitable for a home with small toddlers or babies. When she gets overexcited, she tends to nip and play far too rough, meaning she needs an older, dog-savvy family who can handle her energetic outbursts. When it comes to other animals, she gets along fine with dogs at doggy day care but requires slow, patient introductions to new canine friends, and her reaction to cats is currently unknown. She absolutely loves doing zoomies around the yard, burning off her feisty energy before settling back down for more dedicated cuddle time.

When it is time for an adventure, she absolutely loves car rides and will eagerly jump right in for a trip. She is also a massive water enthusiast who thoroughly enjoys swimming whenever she gets the chance. However, she does pull when walking on a leash and has a very poor recall. If a gate is left open, she will quickly take the opportunity to run out, and because she won’t easily come when called, her new family must be incredibly vigilant with secure boundaries to keep her safe.
